At Karibu Pwani, everyone deserves to feel welcome, informed and respected.
Coastal experiences are wonderfully diverse, from peaceful sunset cruises and cultural workshops to beach activities, accommodation, swimming lessons and outdoor adventures.
Because different locations and providers have different facilities, we believe in clear information rather than promises that have not been verified.
1. Our Accessibility Commitment
We aim to help customers discover experiences that match their needs, preferences and abilities.
We support respectful communication, accessible information, reasonable accommodation and fair participation.
We encourage our independent providers to identify physical, communication and operational barriers and make appropriate improvements.
However, accessibility varies between individual venues, vessels, beaches, vehicles and activities. We will not describe an experience as wheelchair-accessible, step-free or suitable for a particular requirement unless that information has been appropriately confirmed.
2. Tell Us What Would Make Your Visit Comfortable
Customers are welcome to communicate their requirements before making arrangements.
These may include:
- Wheelchair or mobility assistance.
- Step-free access and accessible washrooms.
- Reduced walking distances or easier boarding arrangements.
- Hearing, visual or communication support.
- Assistance for elderly guests.
- Child-friendly facilities and supervision requirements.
- Dietary preferences, allergies and food-related requirements.
- Sensory preferences, quieter environments or less crowded sessions.
- Accessible transport or suitable pickup arrangements.
- Additional time or support during activities.
You do not need to disclose a medical diagnosis merely to ask about accessibility.
We will seek only the information reasonably necessary to understand your request and coordinate suitable arrangements.
3. Accessibility Information on Experience Listings
Where relevant and verified, listings should explain:
Location and arrival: Meeting point, parking, pickup arrangements, approach routes and walking distances.
Physical access: Steps, slopes, uneven paths, sand, boarding arrangements, lifts and accessible entrances.
Facilities: Seating, toilets, changing areas, shade, rest areas and available assistance.
Activity requirements: Duration, physical effort, swimming ability, minimum age, equipment and participation restrictions.
Communication: Available languages, instructions and alternative communication arrangements.
Support: Assistance offered by the provider and anything guests need to arrange in advance.
Where information has not been verified, it should be clearly marked Needs Confirmation.
4. Beach, Boat and Water Experiences
Beach and marine activities may present specific accessibility challenges.
Soft sand, changing tides, uneven access paths, vessel boarding steps, movement on the water and limited onboard facilities can affect suitability.
Before confirming a booking, guests should be able to ask about:
- Access from the meeting point to the activity.
- Safe boarding and disembarking arrangements.
- Available assistance and suitable equipment.
- Appropriate life-jacket sizes.
- Seating, stability and movement during the activity.
- Accessible washrooms or changing facilities.
- Weather, tides and alternative arrangements.
Not every traditional dhow or water activity is suitable for every access requirement.
Providers must assess suitability and relevant safety conditions individually, while respecting applicable accessibility and non-discrimination obligations.
5. Families, Children and Older Guests
We encourage providers to clearly explain age suitability, supervision requirements, activity duration, facilities and applicable child rates.
Families may request information about stroller access, child-sized safety equipment, shade, rest breaks, changing facilities and suitable pickup arrangements.
Older guests may ask about reduced walking distances, comfortable seating, boarding assistance and less physically demanding options.
We aim to help guests identify suitable experiences without making assumptions based on age or disability.
6. Food, Allergies and Dietary Requirements
Cooking classes, private chef services, food tours and catered experiences may involve ingredients or preparation conditions requiring special attention.
Guests should communicate allergies and important dietary requirements before booking.
Providers must respond accurately about their ability to accommodate requests and disclose relevant limitations, including possible cross-contact risks.
An allergy-safe or specialist dietary arrangement must not be guaranteed without the provider's confirmation.
7. Transport, Pickup and Accommodation
Transport and accommodation requirements should be discussed before confirming arrangements.
Relevant considerations may include wheelchair-accessible vehicles, boarding support, luggage assistance, accessible rooms, bathroom facilities and proximity to activities.
Any special equipment, additional service or applicable fee must be communicated before acceptance.
8. How Special Requests Are Handled
We aim to follow a simple process:
- You share the experience you're interested in and any relevant requirements.
- Karibu Pwani identifies what information needs confirmation.
- The provider checks available facilities, arrangements and applicable safety considerations.
- We communicate confirmed arrangements, limitations, additional charges if any, and suitable alternatives.
- You decide whether the experience meets your needs before making a confirmed booking.
A request for assistance does not guarantee that a particular arrangement is available.
Where an advertised option cannot reasonably accommodate a requirement, we aim to help identify alternatives where possible.
9. Accessibility and Respectful Treatment
Everyone deserves respectful and dignified treatment.
We do not support harassment, degrading treatment or unlawful discrimination.
Providers must comply with relevant accessibility and reasonable-accommodation obligations.
Customers may report misleading accessibility information, inappropriate conduct or failures to provide agreed assistance.
10. Privacy of Accessibility Information
Information about disabilities, medical needs or other sensitive circumstances will be handled with appropriate care.
Such information should only be requested where reasonably necessary and shared with authorized providers or personnel for legitimate purposes.
For details about personal information, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
11. Website and Digital Accessibility
We aim to make the Karibu Pwani website usable across different devices and accessibility needs.
Our design objectives include readable content, clear navigation, keyboard accessibility, appropriate text alternatives for meaningful images, understandable forms and compatibility with assistive technologies.
These are continuing improvement goals and should not be interpreted as a claim of completed technical certification.
Customers experiencing accessibility barriers may contact us for assistance and alternative ways to access information.
12. Booking and Payment Clarity
Before a booking is confirmed, customers should understand the applicable provider, price, inclusions, exclusions, arrangements and cancellation conditions.
An enquiry, requested date or proposed itinerary does not constitute a confirmed reservation.
Payment instructions must identify authorized payment channels.
Accessibility arrangements that affect service suitability should be confirmed before a customer is required to commit to a non-refundable payment.
13. Help Us Improve
We welcome suggestions about accessibility, visit planning and customer experience.
If an activity was difficult to access or important information was missing, please tell us.
Your feedback can help us improve listings, identify provider limitations and make future coastal experiences more inclusive.
